13 Jan 11

Today the students had a trivia question. They also finished reading Chapter 1 in the textbook and began working on the chapter review from page 24. They are directed to complete #'s 1-11 writing out or paraphrasing the questions for full credit. As this work is typically used as a study guide for their tests. They were also reminded that their vocab is due on Friday. And the extra credit is due on Tuesday since we are out on Monday for the holiday.
The students are also encouraged to complete the book work at home via the internet now that we have access to the textbook on line now.

11-12 Jan 11

Tuesday-The students and I went over the directions for getting to the textbook on line at Glencoe.com and we browsed the site as much as we could from the classroom's computer.
Book numbers were assigned today as well, as well as the weekly bookmaster was assigned and the job explained.
Passes were handed out to the students that were not present the day before.

Wednesday-The students were reminded to check their grades that were posted yesterday. We read the first lesson of Chapter 1 as a class and then had SSR for the remainder of the class. I also reminded the kids about their extra credit opportunity they have by reading the books and doing a book review and presentation if they chose to do so. They also had a journal entry that asked: What would you do with 14 million dollars?

7 Jan 10

Both today and yesterday the students watched Sicko by Michael Moore. On Friday the students presented their health articles and were given one last opportunity to turn in their blog assignment. It's all on for next week. Tardies, passes, and homework responsibilities. This week was a "free" week, but it gets serious next week. I will be passing out Syllabus next week for parents to sign and return. Making the Grade will be up as well, and the parental access page will then be in full swing.

5 January 10

Today the students began watching Sicko by Michael Moore. They were asked to take notes on the movie (at least ten) and hold on to them until the movie is finished. I collected the blog assignment homework, but am extending the due date until Friday since we still have so many stragglers coming into the class. They were again reminded that they will have a health article due on Friday.

4 January 2010

The students were given the homework assignment of actually visiting this blog for the first entry's homework assignment. They were also assigned a Health Article that is due on Friday. We also went over some titles for the Book review for extra credit and also reminded the students of the deadlines for both the review and the donations to the classroom.
