today the kids had a Drug PSA to present to the class in pairs if they wanted. I passed back all the paperwork and posted up current grades. The PSA's were GREAT! Nice work kids! HEALTH ARTICLE DUE TOMMORROW!!!

Today the kids had a journal entry that asked what they thought about glamorized fighting like the extreme chick fighting talked about in HMFC. They also worked on their Chapter 23 Chapt. Rev. RTF 2,3,6,8-10 and the writing critically #1. They are to present their PSA's tomorrow in class.

Today the student had a trivia question about the Queen of England
They also had the option to work in triads to finish reading Chapter 23. They were to summarize that last section in their composition books for me to check for them tomorrow. They also were asked to write two facts per section for a total of 10 facts on a separate sheet of paper and turn it in to the box. Health Article due on FRIDAY!!!!

Today the students and I completed reading section 4 of Chapter 23. Their vocab is due tomorrow (complete with sentences) They will be rewarded with outside time if they acheive 70% turn in rate. They had a journal entry that asked: how do you feel about steriods in professional athletics or do you think steriod use if fair?

Today the students read sections 2-3 of Chapter 23 in the text. They summarized the sections in their composition books. I will be checking for your summaries when we are finished with the chapter. They are reminded to finish their vocab and turn it in on Friday in hopes of earning the right to go outside as a reward.

Today we had a trivia question, and also we began reading Chapter 23 in the text. The vocab words that are due on Friday (with sentences and definition) are: Intervention, Euphoria, Unintentional, Slur, Dispense, Consequence, Resistant, Hallucination, Convulsions, Imitation

Monday the kids had a journal entry that asked their reaction to the flight attendant that had to be subdued on the American Airlines plane this past weekend.
I collected their journal/trivia points up to this point as well. REMINDER* YOUR JOURNAL/TRIVIA POINTS WILL BE AFFECTED NEGATIVELY BY YOUR TARDIES.
Today (Wednesday) The students had the Chapter 5 Nutrition test today. It seems as though test scores are warranting re-takes, so that will take place tomorrow for sure.

Today the students turned in their Vocab that was due. They also finished and graded in class the chapter 5 text work. The grades were updated and they had the rest of the class period to work on other work or read. Health Article due next week! AND I'm going to be checking Journals and Trivia next week too, as well as you all having a test on the Nutrition chapter work too.

Today the students had both a trivia and a Journal entry today. The journal entry was asking what they would change about their school lunches if they had the power. They were reminded that the vocab is due tomorrow NO EXCUSES! We went over the ingredients list over nutrition as well, and they finished watching the 33,000 cal. video and I checked for their notes. They also calculated both the BMI and BMR using the measurements I gave them.

5-6 Mar 12

Yesterday Monday- the kids learned how to to calculate both their BMI (body mass indexes) and their BMR (basal metabolic rate)=calorie consumption. They then calculated the BMI of either Troy Polamalu or Serena Williams to indicate that the BMI numbers are not always the most accurate measurement of someone's health status. They also had a trivia

Today-Tuesday-the kids had a Journal entry that asked what would be thier dream job. Then they worked on Chapter 5 Chapter review #'s 1-12 Recalling the Facts 4, 7 + 10 and STP 1+2. They are to write out or paraphrase the questions as always.
Vocab was assigned as well, and is due on Friday with Definitions and sentences for full credit. They are: Indigestible, Additives, Intolerance, Anaphylaxis, Dietitian, Contamination, Foodborne, Allergen, Salmonella and Essential
